Bawat ikasampung taon, sa pamamagitan ng sensus –  ang pamahalaan ay nagsasagawa ng pagbilang ng lahat ng mga nannirahan sa  Estados Unidos ayon sa takda ng saligang batas.

Ang sadya ay ang pangkalahatang paglahok anuman ang edad, lahi, relihiyon o immigration status – kailangan ang pakikilahok ng lahat.

Lubos na mahalaga ang pakikilahok ng lahat dahil ang resulta ng sensus ay direktang epekto sa $400 bilyon na ipapamahagi sa pamamagitan ng taunang pagtatalaga ng pondo para sa mga programang pang-kalusugan, edukasyon at serbisyong pang-madla. Ang bawat taong nabilang ay katumbas ng $1400 pondong ilalaan sa mga programang pang-madla.

Ang mga datos sa sensus ang tanging batayan ng estado sa pagbabahagi ng pwesto ng mga kinatawan at sanhi din ito ng pagbabago ng mga distrito pang-kongresso, estado at lokal.

Ang paglahok sa Sensus ay madali, matiwasay at kailangang-kailangan.  Lahat ng sambahayan ay padadalhan ng form sa Marso 2010.  Bawat sambahayan ay kinakailangang ibalik ang nabuong Census Form sa ika-1 ng Abril, 2010.

Bakit kailangan kong sagutin ang 2010 Census Form?

Ang mga datos sa sensus ay may kaugnayan sa pagbigay ng kapangyarihang politikal sa ating komunidad.  Halimbawa ang sensus ang tanging batayan sa pagtukoy ng bilang ng mga pwesto sa U.S. House of Representative na mapupunta sa bawat estado at mga kinalabasan ng bagong anyo ng distritong pang-kongreso, estado, at lokal.

Ang mga datos sa sensus ay may kaugnayan kung paano ang pagbabahagi ng $400 bilyon na taunang pondo para sa komunidad na ilalaan para sa mga paaralan, transportasyon, kalusugang pang-madla, at iba pang mga mahahalagang programang pang-madla, tulad ng pag-aaral ng Ingles at pagsasanay sa gawain.

Ginagamit ng mga organisayon sa komunidad ang mga datos sa sensus kapag nag-aaplay sa mga pribado at di-pribadong kuhanan ng pondo, para sa pagtustos sa mga bigay nilang serbisyo tulad ng mga pag-aaral ng Ingles at pagsasanay sa gawain.

Mga pagtatayo ng mga bagong paaralan at kuhanan ng kaalaman para sa edukasyon ay batay sa dami ng mga naninirahang bata sa isang lugar.

Datos sa sensus ang nagbibigay-alam sa mga mangangalakal na naglilingkod sa mga komunidad ng mga Asyanong Amerikano, taga-islang-Pasipiko, Katutubong Hawayano kung saan magpalaganap.

Batay sa datos sa sensus, mga pagamutan at iba pang mga naglalaan ng paggagamot ay magtatalaga ng mga serbisyong tutok sa likas na wikang Asyano.

Kalakip nito ay mga kuhanan ng kaalaman para sa iyo, iyong pamilya, at mga kaibigan upang lalong maintindihan ang kahalagahan ng paglahok at mga pagpapaliwanag tungkol sa Census 2010.  Kasama dito ang:

-          Mga halimbawa ng mga 10 katanungan sa form

-          Paano ang paghingi ng tulong sa katutubong wika o lenggwahe

-          Iba pang kagamitang pag-edukasyon

Ang paglahok sa Sensus ay madali, matiwasay at mahalagang-mahalaga.

Bus Ads – New York City, NY

Description: With funding from the State of New York, the Asian American Federation adapted the messaging from the bus ads of the APICOUNT campaign for use in New York State. These ads were scheduled to be up for 4 weeks starting March 8, 2010. The telephone hotlines run through the Federation’s partners were included on the ads. The partners in this ad were the Chinese Christian Herald Crusades, Indochina Sino-American Community Center, Japanese American Social Services, Inc., and MinKwon Center for Community Action. The ads were place on bus lines in Brooklyn and Queens boroughs. The ads were designed by Fresh Concentrate.
