 10년에 한 번씩, 연방 정부는 헌법에 따라 미국 내 거주하는 모든 사람의 수를 조사해야 하기 위해 때문에 센서스 즉 인구조사를 실시합니다.

나이, 인종, 종교, 이민 자격이나 신분에 관계없이 한 사람도 빠짐없이 참여하는 것이 목표입니다.

인구조사는 의료, 교육 및 사회보장 프로그램을 위한 기금을 포함해 매년4천억 달러 이상의 연방 기금 분배에  직접적인 영향을 미치기 때문에, 모든 사람이 참여하는 것이 중요합니다. 한 사람의 인구조사 참여가 우리 커뮤니티에 1천 4백 달러의 연방 프로그램 기금을 가져옵니다.

또 인구조사 통계자료는 각 주별로 연방 의회 의석수를 배정(재배분) 하는 유일한 기준이며, 연방 의회, 주 및 지역 선거구를 설정(재조정)하는 데에 큰 영향을 미칩니다.

인구조사 참여는 쉽고, 안전하고, 지극히 중요합니다. 미국 내 모든 가구에 2010 3에 양식이 발송될 것입니다. 모든 가구는 작성한 인구조사 양식을 2010 4 1까지 반송해야 합니다.

2010 인구조사 양식을 작성해야 합니까? 

  • 인구조사 통계자료는 우리 커뮤니티의 정치력 신장과 직접적인 관련이 있습니다. 예를 들면, 미 하원에서 각 주가 얼마나 많은 의석을 가질 것인지(재배분) 결정하는 유일한 기준이며, 연방 의회, 주 및 지역 선거구 설정(재조정)에 큰 영향이 있습니다.
  • 또 인구조사 통계자료는 4천억 달러 이상의 연방 기금이 매년 커뮤니티의 학교, 교통, 공중 보건 및 기타 영어 교육 및 직업 훈련과 같은 중요한 사회보장 프로그램에 어떻게 분배될 것인지에 직접적인 영향을 미칩니다.

Census 2010 Hotline Numbers – New York, NY

The Chinese Christian Herald Crusades, Council of Peoples Organization, Indochina Sino-American Community Center, Japanese American Social Services, Inc., MinKwon Center for Community Action, and the NYC South Asian Task Force (Adhikaar, Chhaya CDC, SEVA Immigrant Advocacy Project, South Asian Council for Social Services, South Asian Youth Action) established local telephone hotlines in 15 languages. The Asian American Federation provided funding support for these hotlines and place transit ads (found elsewhere on fillinourfuture.org) to promote the hotlines.
