依据美国宪去的规定,联邦政府必须每十年一次,透过人口普查     统计居住在美国国内的人员。

目标是全民参与,不论年龄、种族、宗教或移民身分,所有人都必须参加。

全民参与是极其重要的,因为人口普查直接影响到每年度联邦政府超过四千亿美元的拨款分配,包括医疗、教育和社会服务。政府拨款的分配是按照每地区的人口统计。每统计一人,我们社区会多收到政府拨款1400元。

人口普查数据也是分配每州国会议席的唯一准则(重新分配),也是划分国会、州及地方选区的重要依据(重新分区)。

参与人口普查既简易、安全又重要。全国住户将于2010年3月起收到邮寄表格,每户人家都必须在20104月1日前把填妥的表格交回。

你为什么要填写2010人口普查表格?

  • 人口普查数据直接与我们社区的政治力量相关。统计数据是决定每州能取得多少国会众议院议席的唯一准则(重新分配);也是划分国会、州及地方选区的重要依据(重新分区)。
  • 人口普查数据也直接影响每年逾4000亿元的联邦拨款,这些款项是用于我们社区的学校、公共交通、医疗及其它重要社会服务,包括英语教育和职业训练。

地方社区组织可以用人口普查数据,向私人机构或政府申请拨款,用以提供如英语班或职业训练等服务。

  • 新学校的建设及教育资源的分配,是以地区儿童人口数目为依据。
  • 商业界可以用人口普查数据來決定在哪些地区扩展业务,以服务亚裔、太平洋岛屿裔及夏威夷原住民。
  • 医院及其它医疗服务单位根据人口普查的数据来决定是否选择采用某种亚裔语言来提供服务。

The NRFU campaign encourages households who have not returned their Census form to welcome and cooperate with the Census taker that may knock on their door.
